Dario Amodei predicts: “Coding is going away first,” followed by software engineering later

AI has radically changed the way in which computer programs are written.

Now, people “vibe code,” telling an AI model like Claude Code what program to create. And then AI writes all the lines of code.

Anthropic says they no longer manually write any source code. It’s all AI-generated.

CEO Dario Amodei even says all human “coding is going away first.” Next, further down the road, will be human software engineering.

In that world, AI-coded programs engineer new AI-coded programs. Humans drop out of the loop.
