Andrej Karpathy joins Anthropic. Is Anthropic now the leader in AI?

Anthropic continues its torrid run. Andrej Karpathy, former co-founder of OpenAI and AI engineer at Tesla, just joined Anthropic.

Karpathy is known also for coining the term “vibe coding,” which describes how people can use the English language to code computer programs using AI.

Personal update: I've joined Anthropic. I think the next few years at the frontier of LLMs will be especially formative. I am very excited to join the team here and get back to R&D. I remain deeply passionate about education and plan to resume my work on it in time.
